Robert Fish
Bar Harbor, ME
Rob successfully led campus activists in a market-based, non-violent direct action campaign against retailers of old-growth and endangered forest products. He then turned their attention to the practices of the school itself. Using their momentum and well-established connections to national campaigns and community activists, he created an hoc student group that convinced the College of the Atlantic to adopt a comprehensive wood and paper procurement policy that required it to purchase only sustainably harvested wood and 100% post-consumer waste recycled paper. At the time, it was the only such policy of its kind in the country.
